JP Thompson
The year was 2008 during “The Great Recession”, and each morning I walked into the Trulaske College of Business at the University of Missouri, I quickly became enamored with the United States of America’s overall economy via the channels of the university and what I was exposed to leading to my degree in Finance & minor in Real Estate. Soon I realized my career wish was to serve people by steering them into financial security and stability, as the recession showcased a period that was unstable and leading many to question the future. Believing that people pour themselves into their careers for the betterment of themselves and loved ones, I wanted to join their team and become an asset in all aspects of personal finance and growth.
Since that powerful moment of professional clarity, I became determined to propel people to a place where they can reach and exceed their financial goals. Along with my business partner and best friend, Spencer Schoch, we have a steadfast mission at Thompson Schoch Financial Advisors (TSFA) to be financially innovative and proactive with the people with whom we work and serve.
Well over a decade into building some of the most wonderful personal, professional, and spiritual relationships of my life, TSFA was blessed with Abby Marquart, our office manager and overall, ROCK! I thank God every day that I get to go to work with my best friends. It’s so special when you find people who are like-minded and strive for the service of others…we just simply love what we do for the people with whom we work with.
The journey to today, however, was not without problem. Life brings you MANY deposits, but some withdrawals. On Thanksgiving Day, 2013, I asked the love of my life, Carter Vieira, for her hand in marriage. She said YES to much of my family and friend’s surprise! We were elated to be planning our wedding, but each day I noticed I became more rundown on energy in daily life, until a fatigue came over my body and mind that I couldn’t explain. In the early part of 2014, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, MO. My family began our journey of studying chemotherapy treatments with one goal in mind…making it to the alter in 2015!
Cheers to health and prosperity! Current day, I am happy, healthy, and blessed beyond belief. In 2018, Carter and I welcomed our daughter, Livingston “Liv” James Thompson. We enjoy “daddy-daughter date nights” (Drinking Shirley Temples) and dancing to music together when I get home. Carter and I are expecting our second daughter in 2022 and wish for A LOT of the same for our second! I’m surrounded by powerful and amazing women, and I can’t get enough of it.
My passion for others, work ethic, and drive was inspired and instilled by my parents, John & Marcia Thompson. I’m so grateful to have an example to look to in this ever-changing world today. My sister, Emily, revitalizes and rejuvenates me in all aspects. I have been extremely blessed with a core of people who I love and greatly admire.
In addition to my work and homelife, I currently serve as the Chairman of the Notre Dame Regional High School’s Foundation Board. Carter and I strive to identify opportunities to bless communities with our time, talent, and treasure.
